Jeffrey McMahon was the first person in his family in 300 years to be born in the north, with southern Louisiana roots he spent his childhood in West Philadelphia navigating the effects of the conservative right's agenda to strip urban areas of social services, defunded public education, and strip urban communities of living wage  jobs.

At 11 years old he started writing graffiti and by 13 he was running through subways and tagging train cars. At 15 he started making things for exchange, monetary and otherwise. He received his Bachelors from Tyler School of the Arts and his Masters from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  He has spent the last three summers enjoying Umbria while collaborating with the Poor Farm Artists residency.
